Welcome to Ruvidonia Town. You can ignore the time, a D/N system is being worked on currently. Anyway, this is the last town and area in the first demo. I hope you like it, and I hope it signifies that we've been working hard working towards a release for you all! I won't mention dates juuuust yet, but we're getting a heck of a lot closer.
How do you deal with 3 layers when using the 2x2 grass style? I mean as in, I like to place mountains on layer 1 when I can, but I can't do that with the 2x2 BW-style grass as the mountains won't tile properly.
Not sure if I explained that well...
Anyway, I've seen nothing but perfection from your screenshots. Honestly I'm kinda jealous , all the tiles just...match completely. Though most of them were custom made for this project weren't they? So I guess it makes sense
There are occassions when I need to use mountains on the first layer, but they don't show much grass really, so you don't notice them. So if you look at this: i.imgur.com/XIlJSwE.png you may see what I mean. It makes mapping more of a slow process, but ensure that your mountain tiles cover enough ground so that if they need to be used on the first layer in some instances, that the seam is unnoticeable.
Thanks for the comments! And yeah, we build everything ourselves, the scripts, the tiles, the characters, maps, and so on. That screenshot is a 3 man collaboration. Myself for design, scripts, tiles and mapping, my friends Mateus doing most of the tiles, and my pal Maruno for doing 99% of the scripting.
Thank you so much! Myself and the team are very fond of adding as much detail we can into a small space. Without making things over cramped or unplayable. We work hard on it, and it always makes it worthwhile when we see comments like that. So hopefully the detail will come across just as well when we release the game!
